FoxPro Helps Nab Fugitives
July 1, 2005

Shelby County's Wireless Apprehension Solution Project (WASP) -- based on Microsoft FoxPro -- keeps law enforcement in the know.

Before Wireless Apprehension Solution Project (WASP), law enforcement officers in Shelby County, Tennessee needing information on fugitives had to work from hardcopy printouts of arrest warrants. Whether making an arrest, performing a routine traffic stop or checking suspicious persons, officers would only have access to a photograph if they had printed one from the department's intranet, or requested one from the photo lab. But, since the Sheriff's Office implemented Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 to build WASP early this year, officers can remotely access warrant-related data in a matter of seconds -- information that can literally save lives.

Visual FoxPro 9.0 Service Pack 1 Announced
June 1, 2005

Based on user feedback and error reports a Service Pack 1 for Visual FoxPro 9.0 has been started by the VFP team and is scheduled to be released near the end of this year. SP1 for Visual FoxPro 9.0 is completely independent of plans for enhancing Visual FoxPro in the future and has nothing to do with the Sedna project outlined in the Visual FoxPro Roadmap.

Visual FoxPro 7.0 Update: Service Pack 1 (SP-1) provides the latest updates to Visual FoxPro 7.0. SP-1 combines various enhancements and stability improvements into one integrated package. The download contains all the documentation for these updates. This service pack also includes a number of other changes designed to improve the reliability and performance of Visual FoxPro 7.0.

Visual FoxPro 6.0 Application Launch Security Update

The vulnerability could be exploited by creating a web page that references a Visual FoxPro 6.0 application. If Visual FoxPro 6.0 is installed, and the filename of the application was constructed correctly, the application would execute. This would enable the application to not only interrogate databases, but also issue system commands in the user’s security context. Any users of Visual FoxPro 6.0 should download and apply this update.  <more>
